Community Assessment and Parole Supervision (CAPS)

CAPS is the Community Assessment and Parole Supervision program. They complete interviews with community supports to assess their suitability in assisting offenders with reintegration upon release. It is a small program with one full-time staff. I found a small blurb about the program in one of our shared drive folders:

The Community Assessment and Parole Supervision (CAPS) program is offered in partnership with the Correctional Service of Canada and is housed at 101 Street Apartments community based residential facility. 2011 saw one more of our Parole Supervisors leave and we are now operating with one Parole Supervisor only. Six Community Assessment (CA) writers help us out on a part-time basis and CA numbers have remained constant at approximately 60 per month. Parole supervision numbers are unchanged with the program being responsible for supervising five offenders on Full Parole.

  • Interviews are conducted with families and friends of offenders to assess the degree of support they are willing to offer both during and after incarceration
  • Provides supervision during Unescorted Temporary Absences (UTA’s)
