enCompass offers FREE services and programs to assist individuals, including all current and past enCompass clients. Our Community Support Services provide a bridge to help individuals overcome barriers to reach their goals – generally over a 12 to 18 month period.
These voluntary walk-in and referral-based community programs and services are tailored for those navigating multiple barriers. The programs provide short-term and long-term support. Referrals from friends, family and professionals are welcome.

Employment Services
We provide a range of employment support services, workshops and resources, including:
- Job boards
- Resume building
- Interview techniques and follow-up practice
- Employment preparation
- Job maintenance support
- Advice on conflict resolution in the workplace
- Connections and referrals to appropriate resources
Building Foundations Courses
Building Foundations provides facilitated in-class programming, with an option for self-study workbooks. Subjects include Emotional Regulation (including Anger Management), Employment Preparation and Financial Literacy. A certificate is provided once a course has been completed.
Edmonton Remand Centre Programming
enCompass offers free workshops to participants incarcerated at the Edmonton Remand Centre (ERC) through our Creating Awareness program. These workshops provide skills and knowledge to prepare participants for their release back into the community. The program facilitator can direct participants to additional resources and services that may be available to individuals within the ERC and in the community after release.
Workshop topics include:
- Communication skills
- Employment preparation
- Financial literacy
- Pre-release planning
- Stress management
We also respond to thousands of requests each year, to provide information and resources related to housing, ID, income support, tax support and more.
Additional Services
- Pre- and post-release planning (Federal or Provincial correctional systems)
- Record suspensions information and application support
- Self-advocacy support / training
- Supports to friends and family members who have loved ones incarcerated or involved in the criminal justice system
- Referral to community-based resources for basic needs including:
- Housing
- Legal services
- Community meals
- Education, employment programs
- Counselling services
