101 Street Apartments is FREE a 24-bed Community Residential Facility (CRF) owned and operated by enCompass Community Safety Agency. It provides supervision and support for individuals released into the community on Conditional Release, under the authority of the Parole Board of Canada. 

This Specialized Program Supports Individuals Who:

  • Are deemed high-risk
  • Have been denied residency from other CRFs in Canada and identify the Edmonton area as their home community. 
  • May have complex needs due to a psychiatric diagnosis, physical disability or brain injury

Note: 101 Street Apartments IS NOT wheelchair accessible.

Program Goals

  • To facilitate and support the reintegration process.
  • To provide a safe, structured and supportive environment.
  • To provide clients with appropriate community referrals.
  • To promote prosocial lifestyle/activities.
  • To contribute to community safety through 24-7 supervision/support.

Available On-Site Services

  • Daily living and social skills coaching
  • Budgeting and financial planning
  • Case planning, crisis planning and SMART goal development
  • Communication and advocacy skills
  • Staff support and services 24 hours a day, 365 days per year
  • Recreation opportunities
  • Opportunities to participate in cultural traditions
  • Referrals to community programs including enCompass Adult Support Services
  • Provide referrals to community programs including enCompass Adult Support Services
  • A safe place to call home with groceries provided

Specialized Supports Available

  • Weekly on-site Psychiatry Clinic and Psychiatric Nurse
  • In Reach Coordinator to assist with pre-release planning and preparation
  • Indigenous Elder
  • Indigenous Support Worker
  • Psychologist (under recruitment)
  • Reintegration Support Worker 

100% of surveyed residents reported they feel they now have the necessary skills to live a crime-free lifestyle and are better prepared to return to the community. (2024)

Referral Details

101 Street Apartments accepts referrals from the Edmonton Area Parole Office. Residency is determined by conducting a formal file review, which determines the applicant’s suitability for residency.

The file review process takes the following into account:

  • Client’s home community
  • Completed programming
  • Engagement in Correctional Plan
  • Willingness/motivation toward release planning
  • Criminal history
  • Institutional behavior/staff safety concerns
