Position Summary:
Donnelly House is a 90-day transitional housing program for individuals experiencing chronic or temporary homelessness. Part time caseworkers provide support to individuals 16+, who are experiencing chronic homelessness, being discharged from acute hospital care, awaiting treatment, or on other housing lists. Staff are ensuring a safe and supportive environment while participants are residing in our interim housing. Donnelly House functions off of a harm reduction philosophy and values a client centered approach.
Responsibilities:
- Completion of accurate written daily documentation (log book entries, contact notes, incident reports, medication book entries)
- Ongoing monitoring of own files to ensure they are kept complete and up to date
- Maintain accurate and up to date data collection, data entry and completing of any program assessments and surveys as directed
- Role model and assist clients with self advocacy
- Adapt services to meet the needs of diverse populations as per unit policy
- Conduct intake and interviews
- Deliver services in a client centered, strength-based approach per unit philosophy
- Coordinate recreation activities with residents
- Deliver services in accordance with unit and Agency Policies and Procedures
- Ensure clients are aware of and understand House rules and address any concerns
- Complete security rounds and searches as per House policy
- Ensure Maintenance and Cleanliness of Unit and Property
- Communicate pertinent information to supervisor and other staff as necessary
- Obtain/maintain positive working relationships with external agencies
- Liaise with program providers and agency funders
- Participate in community events
- Contribute to a positive culture by assisting and supporting colleagues as needed and encourage and teach others about the unit’s operations
- Attend and participate in Unit Meetings

Qualifications / Skills:
- Some post-secondary or related experience required; Diploma or Degree in Human Services or a related field would be considered an asset.
- 6 months to 1 year of experience working with marginalized populations preferred.
- Assessment, interpersonal, written and verbal communication, and engagement skills
- Must be self-directed, flexible, team-orientated, and able to follow directions.
- Able to follow the agency’s philosophy and core values.
- Professionalism within all aspects of employment and ability to contribute to a positive team environment
- Experience working with diverse populations, including stakeholders, and ability to provide culturally relevant services
- Knowledge of community resources and experience accessing resources
- General proficiency with computer technology (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Zoom, Teams, etc.)
- Ability to work within confidentiality guidelines
Conditions of Employment:
- The successful candidate must be able to work shift work (including holidays, weekends/weekdays, evenings, and awake overnight shifts). The hours of work are 7:00am-3:00pm, 3:00pm-11:00pm, 5:00pm-11:00pm, and 11:00pm–7:00am shifts.
- **Availability during the week will be considered an asset.
- The position requires frequent standing, walking up and down stairs, and occasional lifting.
- Valid Standard First Aid/CPR
- Clear Criminal Record; a criminal record will not disqualify you from employment with us; we evaluate each application individually.

- The starting wage is $20.40 per hour. Shift differential will be paid for hours worked between midnight (12:00am) and 6:00 am.
